  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (Plain or seasoned)
  • 1 large Egg (Beaten)
  • 1 medium Onion (Finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper

For the Gravy

  • 3 tbsp Butter (Salted or unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour (For thickening gravy)
  • 2 cups Beef broth (Low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 large Onion (Sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, gently mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, finely diced onion, salt, and black pepper until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Form the mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties.
  • Allow the shaped patties to rest for about 10 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the patties in the skillet for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove the patties and set them aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the sliced onions for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  • Sprinkle in the flour and stir for about 2 minutes, then gradually whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream until fully combined and smooth.
  • Nestle the browned patties into the gravy, cover the skillet tightly, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the cover and bake for another 15 minutes to allow the top to brown.

Serving

  • Let the skillet rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
