  • 1 lb Ground beef 85/15 blend recommended
  • 2 cups Elbow macaroni Can substitute with penne or rigatoni
  • 15 oz Canned tomato sauce Choose a high-quality sauce
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 3 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tsp Chili powder
  • 2 tsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup Shredded cheddar cheese Can use more if desired

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cook 2 cups of uncooked elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, brown 1 pound of ground beef over medium-high heat until fully cooked.
  • Add diced onions and minced garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
  • To the skillet, add 3 cups of beef broth, 15 ounces of tomato sauce, and 2 tablespoons of ketchup.
  • Stir in 2 teaspoons of chili powder, 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, 2 teaspoons of onion powder, and 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
  • Let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Lower the heat and add 1/2 to 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted.
  • Gently mix in the cooked pasta and serve hot.

Notes

Adjust seasonings according to taste. You can use whole wheat pasta or lean turkey for a healthier option.
