Ingredients
  

For the Roast

  • 3-4 pounds venison roast Choose cuts like backstrap or sirloin tip for best results.

For the Marinade

  • 1 cup red wine Can also use apple cider vinegar for a different flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 1 tablespoon rosemary Fresh or dried.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For marinating.

For Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder About 10 cloves worth.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme To enhance flavor.

Preparation

  • Marinate the venison roast in the marinade mixture for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Remove the roast from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels.
  • Season the roast evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried thyme.

Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  • Place the marinated and seasoned roast in a roasting pan.
  • Roast in the oven for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  • Let the roast rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing to retain juices.

Serving

  • Slice the roast against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.

Notes

Venison is leaner than beef, so be careful not to overcook it to prevent dryness. Always use a meat thermometer.
