Cookie Dough Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted Butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 stick Margarine, softened Ensure margarine is at room temperature.
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 pieces Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch Salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose Flour
  • 1 heaping tsp Baking Powder
  • Optional gel food coloring For colorful cookies.

Preparation

  • Put softened unsalted butter and margarine in an electric mixer until the mixture is fluffy.
  • Next, add the sugar half a cup at a time, alternating with the eggs.
  • Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture by hand, a little at a time. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
  • Chill the dough for about 15 minutes.
  • While the dough chills, chill your baking pan for 15 minutes in the fridge.
  • Load your Spritz cookie press according to the instructions.
  • If the dough is too soft, chill it a little longer. If it’s too stiff, let it sit out for a bit.
  • Press the cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Add any sprinkles or sanding sugar before baking.
  • Bake at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. Separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
