Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use Tamari for a gluten-free alternative.
  • 2 tsp cornstarch Ensure it dissolves completely in the sauce.
  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar Can substitute with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes Add more to taste for extra heat.
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil Used for cooking.

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Finely chopped for even cooking.
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger (grated) Adds a nice aromatic quality.
  • 15 oz ground turkey A healthier alternative to traditional ground meats.
  • 6 tbsp chives (chopped) Keep some for garnish.
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and red chili flakes. Mix until the cornstarch dissolves and set aside.

Cooking

  • Drizzle a large skillet with sesame oil. Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  • Add the ground turkey to the skillet, using a spatula to break it into small chunks. Cook until it is no longer pink, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Pour in the soy sauce mixture and stir well to coat the turkey. Keep cooking over high heat for another 2 minutes or until the sauce turns golden brown and fragrant.
  • Stir in the chopped chives and sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.
  • Serve the mixture over rice or alongside your favorite vegetables.

Notes

For better flavor, allow the ground turkey to marinate in the sauce for a little longer before cooking. Use pre-minced garlic and ginger to save on chopping time.
